a little pest has arrived

When Mum and Dad have been talking about puppies recently, I thought they were talking about me (what else is worth talking about?). I had a big shock when they came home today with a little puppy called Bella.

I agree that she's cute but she can be a little pest if she wants to be.

I hope she lets me have some peace.

It took a while, but snow is here at last !!!!

Finally some snow for me to play with - I don't know where it comes from or who brings it but I'm very happy they do.

It was really nice down by the river today, especially when my friends Bruce and Darcy turned up - I'm such a big puppy girl that they can only play fight me both together.

I had so much fun that when they'd gone, I needed to have a little rest in the snow.

I wonder who will be out tomorrow.

Snow is coming

I'm really excited, Dad tells me that there's going to be lots and lots of snow coming soon - I do hope he's right. I had so much fun the last time it snowed.

New Puppy on the way

Mum and Dad say I'm going to have a new baby sister soon. They've been going to see her every week and have even taken a photograph to show me what she looks like.

I'm not sure which one of these she is - I hope she's going to be nice.

In the newspaper

Mum's wrote a book about me (and Emma and Freddy) called "The Puppy Who Came For Christmas..."

The book is doing so well that it's now something called a best-seller. The local newspaper decided that they would like to come round and take my photo for a story they'd like to do about Mum - of course I said yes!

Book Launch

It's been a really busy couple of months - I've been helping Mum with her new book which is all about me - "The Puppy that came for Christmas ..." (Mum actually says it's about the other dogs that stayed with them too)

Today I needed to help with a launch party at Happy dogs - it was lots and lots of fun and I got to see lots of my friends.

I think Mum enjoyed it too although she was much too busy to eat any of the nice puppy treats I'd brought for my friends to share.

Wales

This weekend I took Mum and Dad to a place called Wales. I like Wales because it has lots of sand and water (apparently this is called a beach).

I can't wait until we get a beach in Bedford. It was a shame we had to come back, but Mum needed to do a interview with the BBC about one of her books.

Mary Ray

Last night I went to a talk by some dogs who explained that it is possible to get people to give you food just by allowing them to click a little button. Unfortunately it's necessary to do a little trick each time you want the to give you some food - makes them feel like they are getting something worthwhile out of it. The talk by these dogs raised money for my friends at Canine Partners, so I'm happy about that.

Apparently the person used for the talk was someone called Mary Ray - she's quite famous in the dog training world because she's so easy to train - lots and lots of dogs have trained her over the years.

Here's me listening to what one of the dogs had to say. I heard that they can't play music when Mary is around because she starts dancing and expects any dog nearby to join in.

It did seem that a trick the dogs liked to do a lot was making Mary watch them walk backwards.

Another nice day for a river walk by the river

It was very warm today, so I took Mum and Dad down to the river for a nice walk. For some reason they just don't want to come in the water for a play, but I think they like it when I help them cool off by shaking water over them.

Stewartby Lake

It was a pretty nice day this morning, so I took Man & Dad to a place called Marston Mortaine for a run round Stewartby Lake. As usual, Dad insisted that he drives; he must think my little puppy legs are too short to reach those peddle things in the car - doesn't he realise that the seat can be moved nearer the steering thingy - Mum does this when she gets a turn to drive, so surely it would work for me.

The lake was nice and cool - plus as an added bonus, none of the silly men who sit throwing the same stick at the water again and again - for some reason they don't like it when puppy girls want to join in with their game.

Any hows, my little puppy girl legs are much faster than Mum and Dad's can go, so I let them bring things called folding bikes with them, so they could keep up. I did allow them to rest a few times when I had a little paddle in the water.

New Game

Me and Josie (Jack Russell) have got a great new game. I drop her ball down the river bank and then she swims and gets it and gives it to me at the shallow end (I don't like going out of my depth) and then I run up the river bank and drop it in again.

We wanted to keep playing our new game of fetch for hours but Mum wanted to go home in the end. I don't know why - it's much nicer playing in the river than being indoors.

Dad's Birthday

Dad didn't have to go to work because it was his birthday.
My good friend Harvey thought Dad should give him a present. Luckily Dad had some treats in his pocket. Harvey tried to get them out for him.

Staying with the Grandparents

Huh, Mum and Dad went off to see these!!!!!!
I think I am much more cute. Luckily the Grandparents came to look after me while they went away for the weekend.
I like the Grandparents very much apart from they wont let me sleep on the bed with them.

HULA

This afternoon we went to the HULA open day. Lots of people made a fuss of me and asked what had happened to me so Mum and Dad had to tell them about me being poorly (I don't feel poorly anymore.) HULA is a place where dogs and cats and a pig (I kept wagging my tail at him but he was asleep) and some goats and rabbits and a cow and some ponies and a lamb went to live when no one else wanted to look after them anymore. The people at HULA work very hard to find new homes for them.

Bedfordshire County Show

When I went to Bedfordshire County show a lady said I could paddle in her paddling pool but I didn't want to. I also saw a mule and some donkeys and some funny things that were like dogs but not dogs.

Northampton Show

Today we went to Northampton county show. I thought it was especially fine and got to make some new friends.

Splashing About in the River

Today, finally, after months I got to go back in the river and it was soooooooooo fine. Mum and Dad wouldn't let me go in with my feeding tube in and then they wanted me to wait until the hole where the feeding tube had gone in had heeled but at last they said I could.
Lots of my friends were down at the river because it was so hot, George and Maya and Trilby and Molly and Darcy and a new puppy called Millie and Isa and Merlin and Mia. Mum and Dad walked very slowly and kept stopping because they had to tell everyone about my hospital adventure.

I walked very slowly on the way back because I was very tired and had to have a big sleep in the garden.

Poorly Puppy

I have been very very poorly and had to be in the dog hospital for nearly three weeks. The vet thought I had two bladders at first but it turned out I only have one kidney and my one kidney had a giant pus filled cyst on it that took a three hour operation to get rid of. Then the tube that was supposed to be taking the urine away leaked inside me and I couldn't eat and I was so sick the vet told Mum and Dad I might not ever get better. They put a feeding tube in my neck because I wouldn't eat. Mum and Dad came to see me every single day and brought a picnic and tried to persuade me to eat and gradually I started to feel better and to eat more food. When the tube was leaking inside me they didn't realise for nearly a week and thought I was getting sicker because I was so depressed. I had to have a catheter, which I didn't like, for a week too and then finally, finally they took the catheter out and I was allowed to go home.

As soon as I got home I was so happy that I started to eat and eat and eat and a few days later they took out the feeding tube because I'd put on so much weight and wasn't such a skinny puppy anymore. I still look a bit bedraggled because lots of my fur had to be cut off for the operation but it'll grow back one day and it's nice and cool for the summer.

Snow-di-do-snow

I love the snow and it was so sensible of Mum and Dad to take me skiing with them because they'd have missed me too much if they hadn't taken me. I also love my new friend Cookie who I play with everyday. He's French and very good at swimming

What I don't like is the cable car because it looks like it's coming down the slope to get me and dog snow boots. Everyone kept walking past me and grinning and pointing at 'le chien', It was embarrassing and humiliating to a puppy girl and they made me walk funny - lucky I only had to wear them once.

Mum & Dad - no more boots PLEASE!!!!!!!
